My Cleaning Activity For Thursday, the 9th of May, 2024.
Good day, fellow hivers, welcome to my blog. I carried out my cleaning activity for the day, I went around my neighbourhood picking the wastes disposed off indiscriminately, and then I disposed off the refuse in the garbage bin.
Open burning produces harmful chemicals and particulate matter that harm human health and the environment. The amount of pollutants that are released is dependent on the material being burned. Smoke from burning vegetation and organic materials contains harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, other greenhouse gases, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter that are small enough to reach the lungs and affect the respiratory system. Smoke from the burning of trash, which is illegal, is particularly harmful because of synthetic chemicals in coated papers, plastics, and other materials that people normally throw away. This smoke can contain the above-mentioned chemicals, as well as dioxins, arsenic, mercury, chromium, polychlorinated biphenyls, lead, and other harmful air pollutants. These pollutants are transported by the wind; they settle in our lakes, streams, and soil; and they seep into our groundwater. The pollutants migrate from one species to the next via the food chain, affecting humans, animals, and the ecosystem.
The community needs to be educated on the need for recycling.
These pictures show how I carried out my cleaning activity.
As my blog continues to grow, please continue to support and engage me.
