WHAT TO DO WHEN I CAN'T STOP FORGETTING

Most episode talks to me or about me in a way, but for this episode 1 of week 168 is just my name. Hahaha πŸ˜‚. Is so funny how somethings affects us directly. Though I won't lie, this is one part of me that I don't like at all. Sometimes I wonder why I am like this but I don't know how to stop it completely because that is not in my power to do.

Skipping my mind is something that I experience on daily basis, and for this episode I will love to share with the house how I have managed this situation up till now. Though I can't say that completely I have overcome it or that it doesn't happen to me from time to time, but at least since when I discovered that this is just who I am, I started looking for ways to help myself remember some things.

TELL US ABOUT THE TIME YOU FORGOT SOMETHING EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO YOU AND HOW IT AFFECTED YOU.

Like I said earlier as I grew up I came to understand that I always forget things. Infact most times when I have discussed something very important with someone and maybe we have reached an agreement on what to do and how to do it. When it gets to the particular day we agreed the other person will have to get angry because I may not show up. This is not as a result of been too busy or doing something else, but because it skipped my mind. Sometimes before I will remember such it will have passed with a day or two, or maybe when I see the person I will just reminded.

ONE MAJOR ONE
My husband is a minister of the gospel and most times people invite him from different states to come and preach to a congratulation. Sometimes when I am free I try to go with him so that I can give him all the moral support he needs. On this particular day some men came to the house to invite him for a program, but that day my husband traveled home and his number was not going through because of bad network. I decided to receive the message and promised them that when my husband comes back I will give it to him. Guys immediately they left and I went inside to drop the message that was when everything ended. My husband came back and I never remembered to tell him anything about the program and the said people assumed that he is preparing to come to honor the invitation. On the D day, they all waited for him in vein because he never knew anything about it. Maybe somehow they find someone among them to replace my husband so that people will not get angry. He only got to know about it days after when he met one of the organizers of the program.

HOW DID IT AFFECT MY DAY?
Guys I won't lie oh because it wasn't sweet at all. He was so mad at me that he spoke to me like a little baby that day in front of people. I felt so ashamed of myself, but I did not see his fault because I am responsible for everything that happened and I apologized to him. It took him time to let go and it was also a lesson for me, so I started looking for how to help myself.

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO ENSURE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN?

  • No more messages for another person: I know that this is crazy but I have been enjoying it since then. If anyone approaches me to ask me to deliver any message to any, my response will be " Please I will forget, send him or her a text or Whatsapp message". At least I know that almost everyone uses phone to communicate with people. So save me the stress and send the text message.
  • Secondly, any time I want to do something that I know I may forget, I will quickly bring out my phone and write it down where I know I will see it when I need it. There is a particular place in my phone that I go to check from time to time what I have to do that I have written down.
  • Set alarm: I believe that it is one of the reasons why alarm was included in our phones. For people who may forget that something is supposed to take place at a particular time. Alarm has always been helpful. I have a prayer that I take every day for just five minutes at a particular time, I have set my alarm to always remind me and it has been very very helpful.
  • I tell anyone close to me to remind me of something at a particular time. This also is helpful to me. Sometimes when I am working with any of my child and I remember that I need to do something, I quickly turned to my child and ask that child to remind me about something later.
  • Writing down in a book. I also have a book that I write down most of the things that I know I am meant to do so that I won't forget.
In conclusion, everyone has this inside of him once in a while, but when we see how to overcome it, we will be happier just like myself today, I don't blame myself again rather I keep working on myself to see how I can improve.
