Computer Operator for life
Friends to tell you the truth this is what we need to embrace now because of the way things are going. No one can predict what tomorrow will bring to our door steps. This is an amazing topic and I really do love it.
Week 173 episode I brings up issues about having a practical skills. We see a lot of people earning so very well from it and I believe is worth trying because we will enjoy it at the end of the day.
Personal I have tried three different skills at different times. When I was younger I saw woman selling this black African soap that is made locally. When I asked about it someone told me that the make alot of money from it. Hahaha 😂. Guys I quickly entered into the training hopping that it was an easy one. Remember that the drive was money and not any passion for producing it. I became discouraged even before the date for me to graduate from the training. I also did not complete my payment because I was no longer interested.
Another skill I learnt and I know that I really enjoyed it was tailoring. When I noticed that I could not go to school at a very young age because of no sponsorship. I signed it for an apprenticeship in a tailoring center. It took me a whole year to learn it and when I came out of that shop I was already making my own clothes. I also started making clothes for other people which helped to sustain me as a young girl. It also kept me busy and I never had the chance to move up and down like every other young girl around me. Men weren't seeing much of me and that helped to save me from most of them that just wanted a young girl to destroy her future by putting her in to the family way.
Immediately I got married I had to drop that profession because I couldn't manage both my family and the business at the time. It was a very hard decision to make, Plus I was already having pains in my heart and I knew that it was because of my tailoring business. I left it and after some years I decided to go for another one that lasted until now. I am still using it almost everyday. It has helped me even as a student and is still helping me today after graduation.
I went into computer typesetting. I was trained for six months. I also tried the engineering part for another six months but could not also finish because at that time my kids were still little and I needed to be around them. After my training in the year 2005. I had to source for money from different people to start up a business center that is in existence up till today. Though the shop no longer exists, but I still work from home. All my days in Nasarawa state college of education Akwanga, I did all my assignments myself, all photocopies of handout both for myself and others I didn't at home and it helped me to raise money to settle some things in school. Fast forward to my days in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, I never spent any money because of photocopies, assignment and what have you. The most exciting one is my project. Both for NCE AND B.Ed, I wrote everything myself. When other students are complaining of money for projects I never spent more than just to buy paper and tona for my work.
This is a skill already planted in my system, which I know that as long as I am alive I can still use it to make money.
HOW LONG?
At the end of this year it will complete 20 years that I learnt this skill and I have never regretted learning it.
DO YOU PLAN TO GET ANY BETTER AT IT?
Yes of course. My next target is to learn about cyber security. Because of my busy schedule I have decided that I will go for it when I am less busy, so that I can give it my full attention.
I love how you shared this. Keep learning and growing always!
You are unstoppable, and I love that about you. You overcame everything despite facing difficulties at a young age, but your positive outlook on life makes you great, and I hope that stays with you forever. God willing, it will. Happy day my dear, it is always a pleasure to see you! 🙏
Thanks alot for this kind words
