AFRO-INLEO INITIATIVE WEEK 53. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT TRADITIONAL MUSIC AND MODERN MUSIC
Welcome back to Afro-Inleo Initiative week 53. This is indeed the last week of the month of may and we know what may is the month of the downpour. It is raining in most of the places and we thank God for that.
This special week we are Looking at traditional music verse modern music. What are their similarities and also their difference? We know that there can not be a modern music if there was no traditional music. For some people they may say that they only like the modern music because it is what is reigning today and everyone is going after. And also because traditional music has gone to extinction. Well I want to ask us if it is possible to have today without making reference to yesterday? No. This will be everyone's answer. And that is the honest one. No yesterday no today.
WHAT IS MY TAKE ON THIS?
I want to say with all sincerity, no one is better for me. The modern music just as the name imply is simply an upgrade of the traditional music. Back then people enjoyed traditional music very will because that was all they had. Every one was only making use of what they can get at that time.
Today we have the modern music and everyone is enjoying it. And is all because it is what we have today. And I also see modern music as a way of keeping the legacy of our men of old who started music. Is like keeping it alive and you don't expect them to do it as it was done those days because this is not one of those days. This is a new era and we should learn to appreciate the people that were there before us. Because it is because they started something in the first place that we can continue in what they have have started. If there was nothing from our fathers concerning music to us, maybe by now we will not discover what music is, or we may still be at the beginning level. Modern music is a branch of the traditional music. This is my point exactly.
If we never had fathers by now none of us will be here. No one can give birth to himself. We must have fathers who hand over something good to their children. That is when the children can boast of having something that they can in turn add a little style to suit them. That does not mean that the fathers did not so well. They tried their best, but because time passes, things also changes.
