Afro-Inleo Initiative 26. We have the gadgets, but lost the message in our music

Hello friends. Welcome back to Afro-Inleo Initiative 26. Is been a very long and wonderful week we had. I believe you guys all enjoyed your weekend just as I did? All glory to God.

For this week friends we are talking about how evolution affects our African music. And to me I also believe that we should talk about how it has affected us the Africans too.

Like I always say, though is still my opinion and it might just be me seeing it my own way. African music is one of the best music that I have come in contact with. I believe that others also feel the same way about theirs which is not wrong.

THE OLDEN SONGS AND STYLE OF AFRICAN MUSIC

When I was a little girl I met our parents playing music with that kind of tap that you have to use your hands to whine before it will play. In fact I was very good at that because we had a bear parlor in my house and I was the person playing the music for people drinking alcohol those days. I can remember it very well. Is round and looks like the disks that we use today, but is bigger than the disk of today. We have music like lucky dubby, Fella Kuti and their likes. The kind of music the played those days was full of messages. It speaks to politicians, pastors, traders, public servants, teachers, families and what have you. What about today? Hmmm! I don't really know if I have an answer to that.

Our Africa music that brought peace of mind in those days. Though most of the musician those day use local instructions, the kind of technology that we have today wasn't there back then, but still they were able to pass their messages. Take for example, a man like Fella, he was very bold and courageous to speak to the evil politicians that only thinks of themselves and nothing else. He made sure not to spear any of them. He wasn't afraid..

WHAT DO WE HAVE TODAY?
Starting from the olden days you will notice that we have come along way. Our music today has really changed. We now have the kind of instruments that gives good sounds that was not there before. We have the technology. Formerly we have local instruments, then it moved to musical instruments that gave us all the types of sounds that can make music to be good. Now we have to the era where all the instruments can be controlled through the system. Some people who wants to produce their music today don't even need musical instruments any more. All the need is a system well equiped, and before some days you will get your music done. This is where technology has taken us into for music today.

WE HAVE THE GADGET, BUT LOST THE MESSAGE.
All the gadgets are there, but most of the musicians today are just making their money. We don't have people to say the truth, they just sing and praise people so as to get money. This is the greatest difference that I have seen in our music today.

Good music, but no message. May God have mercy on us.
