From my window

There's nothing like looking out the window and enjoying a beautiful view. Many people enjoy urban landscapes, others enjoy beautiful sunsets, some enjoy views of the sky or the moon in the foreground... In short, there are so many things I can think of, but those of us who have gardens, even if they are communal, love to look out the window and enjoy the view of our hard work.

But the reality is that the location of our windows does not always allow us to see our garden at a glance or in the foreground, or at least that is my case, because I live in a building that is small, yes, but the gardens are common areas, and I am on the first floor, so I cannot see some of the plants I grow just by looking out the window, since they cannot receive direct sunlight and must be placed in strategic locations.

Now, I must say that in my case there are two, or rather three, views from my windows because at the front of the building I have two windows, one is in the living room, from where I can see most of my aloe plants, lilies, and mother-in-law's tongues that I have placed in the building's hallways, which are not there at the moment because they were painting the walls and I removed them from there to take care of them.

On the other hand, if I look out my son's window, it's another story, because at first glance there are many, many of my potted plants, and I enjoy seeing them, whether I'm going to water them or just looking out to see some of the ones in the gardens.

So when I look out my son's window to see the plants below, the ones I can see most clearly from there are the coleus or cretonas that I plant in places where they would receive mostly indirect sunlight or only in the morning, which is usually softer than in the afternoon.

From there I can also see the large jade plant I inherited from my mother, which suffered a terrible accident when it fell to the ground one night during a torrential rain. It is in a planter base, but I assume that the breeze knocked it over and it was badly damaged, so I had to prune it again and add soil. You can't imagine how many times I looked out the window that day after realizing it was on the ground. I stood there for a while unable to do anything because it was raining so hard, until I couldn't take it anymore and went down in the rain to pick it up.

Now let's talk about what I would like to see, because I would like to look out and see the gardens with the cucarachera plants as they were when my mother and grandmother planted them, since they prevented weeds from growing. But as I mentioned, some neighbors arbitrarily decided to remove them because they didn't like them. I won't deny that my cats' beds (which are in the living room window) block my view a little, but if I open the door and go out onto the stairs, which are open, I can see some things from another angle that I can't see directly from the main window.

In short, although I have to look from several angles, I enjoy the greenery around me depending on where I am. I bid farewell to my participation in Week 19: Window View

It’s too bad that some plants from your childhood garden were removed. Sometimes people don’t understand the meaning behind them. I hope one day you’ll get to see your garden just how you imagine it. And it’s nice that even if the windows don’t show everything, you still find ways to enjoy your plants, even from different angles or spots around the house.

There will always be bold and abusive people, but I am convinced that everything will eventually come to light.

At least you have some glimpses, and the balcony plants. Thanks for joining in! It's so interesting seeing a little 'window' into people's lives.

Some enjoy close-up views of their gardens, I enjoy different angles depending on what I want to see.

Your story about the jade plant made me smile, tough luck with that fall, but good thing you saved it! It’s cool how you get different views depending on the window. Plants definitely make a place feel more alive. Thanks for sharing!

That jade plate was simply beautiful when it fell to the floor, but now it's been repaired, and that's what matters.
