En el momento y lugar menos esperado, ocurren situaciones que de forma repentina pueden cambiar por completo lo que teníamos planeado o llevamos a recorrer diferentes caminos, buscando soluciones y opciones; tomando decisiones sobre qué hacer o no hacer. En una publicación reciente, dentro de esta misma comunidad, les narre la noche que pase en un hospital tras un accidente que tuvo mi hijo

Dicha noche fue larga y estresante, además como suele suceder, las cosas no quedan allí, el cirujano de manos que atendió a Cristian Josué ha probado, hasta ahora, ser una persona con vocación y de hecho fue él quien noto que en la historia de emergencia de mi hijo, el traumatólogo que lo atendió, no había puesto nada allí y me insisto en que lo buscará para saber qué acciones había que tomar luego de que fuera dado de alta.

Para cuando regresamos a la emergencia la Traumatóloga que atendió a mi hijo brillaba por su ausencia, y nadie me supo decir dónde encontrarla o cuál era su nombre, así que me vi obligada a buscar un traumatólogo en otro lugar, por lo que el viernes pasado fuimos a la cita, y luego de que él revisara las radiografías, examinara a mi hijo y le hiciera algunas preguntas de acuerdo con su criterio mi hijo requiere una operación en su tobillo y por lo que comprendí también toca su peroné, ya allí hay un riesgo, como es toda cirugía y puede ser que también si no se hace. Pues nos señaló que más adelante un mal movimiento o golpe puede afectarlo de igual o peor manera.

Pero el otro tema es el económico, pues para la cirugía hay que adquirir un material quirúrgico, todo lo que hay que colocar en su tobillo, es decir, los tornillos y ese material que se usa en traumatología, como las suturas de alta tensión, me imaginé que el monto estaba por los 500 dólares y a la fecha de hoy que me dieron el presupuesto es de 690 dólares.

Este presupuesto es válido por 48 horas, me imagino que, por la fluctuación de las divisas en Venezuela, la verdad es un monto nada fácil de conseguir para mí, además de que deseó pedir una segunda opinión, para poder tomar una decisión, aunque definitivamente el dinero es un factor determinante para la decisión final de si abra operación o no.

Mañana mi hijo tiene su segunda cita para curas en cirugía de manos y aprovecharé para buscar una cita en el mismo hospital o en otro que tenga traumatólogos.

El tema es que como madre deseo que mi hijo esté completamente sano, que su salud esté al 100 % y evitar complicaciones mayores a futuro, pues sé, podría ser peor si el traumatólogo está en lo cierto.

Pero sin duda, una suma como esa no es fácil de conseguir para todos, por ahora lo importante es buscar una segunda opinión para saber si realmente es necesaria una cirugía.

Y luego ver si los costos de los materiales se pueden cubrir, así que un paso a la vez, para luego ver se hará. La verdad deseó conseguir rápido alguien que me dé una segunda opinión y así ver que opciones tenemos disponibles.

At the most unexpected time and place, situations arise that can suddenly change our plans completely or lead us down different paths, searching for solutions and options, making decisions about what to do or not to do. In a recent post within this same community, I recounted the night I spent in a hospital after my son had an accident.

That night was long and stressful, and as often happens, things don't end there. The hand surgeon who treated Cristian Josué has proven, so far, to be a dedicated professional. In fact, he was the one who noticed that the orthopedic surgeon who treated my son had not written anything in his emergency medical record, and he insisted on looking for him to find out what actions needed to be taken after my son was discharged.

When we returned to the emergency room, the orthopedic surgeon who treated my son was conspicuously absent, and no one could tell me where to find her or what her name was, so I was forced to find an orthopedic surgeon elsewhere. Last Friday, we went to the appointment, and after he reviewed the X-rays, examined my son, and asked him some questions, in his opinion, my son needs surgery on his ankle, and from what I understand, it also affects his fibula, which is a risk, as with any surgery, and it may also be a risk if it is not done. He pointed out that in the future, a wrong move or blow could affect him in the same or worse way.

But the other issue is financial, because for the surgery, surgical material must be purchased, everything that needs to be placed in his ankle, that is, the screws and other material used in traumatology, such as high-tension sutures. I imagined that the cost would be around $500, but as of today, the estimate I was given is $690.

This estimate is valid for 48 hours. I imagine that, due to currency fluctuations in Venezuela, the truth is that this is not an easy amount for me to come up with, and I also want to get a second opinion before making a decision, although money is definitely a determining factor in the final decision on whether or not to have the operation.

Tomorrow my son has his second appointment for hand surgery, and I will take the opportunity to make an appointment at the same hospital or another one that has orthopedic surgeons.

The thing is, as a mother, I want my son to be completely healthy, to be 100% healthy, and to avoid major complications in the future, because I know it could be worse if the orthopedic surgeon is right.

But without a doubt, a sum like that is not easy for everyone to come up with. For now, the important thing is to seek a second opinion to find out if surgery is really necessary.

And then see if the costs of the materials can be covered, so one step at a time, and then we'll see what will be done. The truth is, I want to quickly find someone who can give me a second opinion so we can see what options are available to us.
