Dan Da Dan/ Review and opinion
After seeing some of the nominations and winners of the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, I decided I had to catch up on some of the titles mentioned there, including an anime I had heard a lot about, so over the past few days I enjoyed watching its first two seasons.
Dan Da Dan
In case you haven't seen this anime or read the manga and don't know, the plot focuses on how the sudden and unexpected approach of young Momo Ayase to Ken Takakura leads them to challenge each other, since Momo doesn't believe in aliens but does believe in ghosts, and Ken doesn't believe in ghosts but does believe in aliens. so they challenge each other to go to different places to prove their beliefs.
Thus, they both discover that both ghosts and aliens exist. In addition, young Ken ends up possessed or cursed by a powerful spirit called Turbo-Grandma. Ken, who has always been the target of bullying at school, begins a friendship with Momo, and his life changes completely.
Now, this anime has different attractions or points in its favor. I'll start by saying that its plot mixes the occult and the supernatural. Another point in its favor is the use of colors at crucial moments. For example, in normal moments, we see a balanced color palette, but when an attack is imminent, the colors change and we see scenes that are completely black and white or bright neon tones. The first time I saw the change, I was a little surprised, but as I continued watching the anime and noticed a sudden change in tones, I knew that a battle had begun.
Another strong point is the character design, and I'm talking about the ghosts and aliens. When we talk about ghosts here, remember that in Japan, when we mention a yokai, which is the term most often used in anime, we are talking about supernatural creatures, spirits, demons, and specters belonging to Japanese folklore. In Dan Dan Dan, we see characters full of color, life, and above all, designs (appearances) that catch the eye and make them stand out.
As for the plot of the anime, it gives us a little bit of everything: action, with battles, comedy that appears in each episode, science fiction, romance... In short, as I mentioned, a little bit of everything.
Something I liked is that it's unpredictable. Suddenly, situations occur when you least expect them, new characters appear, and just when you thought you'd seen it all, there's something else within what you're watching.
As for the music, I loved both opening themes. I immediately associated the first season's theme with the anime Mashle, because it's performed by Otonoke from Creepy Nuts, whose style is unmistakable, and the second season's theme is also catchy.
Now, if we talk about the characters, in addition to the protagonist and her co-star, we find several that stand out for me, for example, Turbo-grandma, Seiko Ayase, Aira, and Jin Enjoji (the latter in his two versions). In addition, as the anime progresses, new members join the fighting group.
But as always, there's something we like, in my case it's that there's a lot of shouting everywhere, mainly from the protagonists. Sometimes it's justified because they're in the middle of battles, but at other times it's because they're a couple of loudmouths.
So if you want to see lots of action, comedy, interesting characters, and a variety of colors, Dan Dan Dan is for you. I give it an 8/10.

Por si no lo han visto, este anime o leído el manga y no saben, pero nada de la trama esta se centra en como el acercamiento repentino e inesperado de la joven Momo Ayase a Ken Takakura, los lleva retarse mutuamente, ya que Momo no cree en los extraterrestres, pero si en los fantasmas y Ken no cree en los fantasmas, pero si en los extraterrestres, así que se retan a ir a sitios diferentes para demostrar sus creencias.
Así ambos descubren que tanto fantasmas como extraterrestres existen, además el joven Ken termina poseído o maldecido por un espíritu poderoso llamado Turbo-Abuela, Ken que siempre ha sido objeto de abuso escolar, comienza una amistad con Momo y su vida cambia por completo.
Ahora bien, este anime tiene diferentes atractivos o puntos a su favor, comenzaré diciendo que su trama mezcla lo oculto y lo sobrenatural, otro punto a su favor es el uso de los colores en momentos cruciales, por ejemplo en momentos digamos que normales vemos una paleta de colores equilibrada, pero cuando hay un ataque en puerta, los colores cambian podemos ver escenas completamente en blanco y negro o tonos brillantes y neón, la primera vez que vi el cambio quede un poco asombrada, al continuar viendo el anime y notaba un cambio brusco de tonalidades sabía que había comenzado una batalla.
Otro fuerte es el diseño de los personajes y hablo de los fantasmas y los extraterrestres, aquí cuando hablamos de fantasmas recordemos que en Japón al mencionar un yokai, que es el término más usado en el anime, hablamos de criaturas sobrenaturales, espíritus, demonios y espectros pertenecientes al folclore japonés, en Dan Da Dan vemos personajes llenos de colores, de vida y sobre todo de diseños (apariencias) que llaman la atención y los destacan.
En cuanto a la trama del anime, nos da de todo un poco: acción, con batallas, comedia que aparece en cada capítulo, ciencia ficción, romance, en fin, como ya mencioné, de todo un poco.
Algo que me gustó es que es impredecible, de pronto ocurren situaciones en momentos en los que no lo esperabas, aparecen nuevos personajes y cuando ya creías que lo habías visto todo, hay algo más dentro de lo que estás viendo.
En cuanto al apartado musical, sus dos opening me encantaron. El de la primera temporada de inmediato lo relacioné con el del anime Mashle, porque lo interpreta Otonoke de Creepy Nuts, su estilo es inconfundible, y el de la segunda temporada también es pegajoso.
Ahora si hablamos de los personajes además de la protagonista y su coprotagonista encontramos varios para mis los que más destacan por ejemplo Turbo-abuela, Seiko Ayase, Aira y Jin Enjoji (este último en sus dos versiones) Además de que a medida que va avanzando el anime se van sumando al grupo de lucha nuevos integrantes.
Pero como siempre hay algo que nos gusta, en mi caso es que hay muchos gritos por y todas partes, principalmente por parte de los protagonistas. A veces se justifica porque están en medio de batallas, pero en otros momentos es porque son un par de escandalosos.
Así que si deseas ver mucha acción, comedia, personajes interesantes y una variedad de colores, Dan Da Dan es para ti. Yo le doy un 8/10.

When I first heard about this anime, I saw that it was popular but didn't think much of it. Then one day, my girlfriend and I wanted to watch something, so I decided to put on an episode, and we fell in love with how bizarre, colorful, and funny this anime is, in addition to the romance and action it has. Personally, I loved it and was pleasantly surprised since I wasn't expecting much.
Creo haber visto unos capítulo de este anime y de verdad que existen unas mezclas increíbles; hay fantasmas, alienígenas, comedia y también romance; todo parece loco pero la trama llega y realmente funciona. No creo equivocarme en lo que he dicho.
I particularly liked your review of Dan Da Dan. You so well embodied its genres mash-up. I also liked the unexpected turns of the events and abrupt changes in tones. Your emphasis on how color shifts on the battlefield were used was perfect- it is a fine addition to the tone. One of the most unusual characters is surely Turbo-Grandma, who makes the story even more fun to hear. Your rating is also fair since it is fun but at times, it can be hectic. Very nice review and I loved to read through what you have to say.
