Coleus, lilies and mother-in-law tongues

Seeing how gardening projects are coming to fruition with dedication, time and effort is gratifying. Today I planted nine cuttings of coleus or cretonne, two lilies that I rescued from another garden and a cutting of mother-in-law's tongue.

It has become a habit that every time I plant a coleus I plant new cuttings of these. The reason is that it is a plant with a life not very long, or at least in my case I have not found the way to extend the life of some, because it requires certain conditions to be in optimal conditions and being in a garden sometimes you can not have everything you need.

The last time I planted coleus I planted three cuttings of each of the four specimens that I have and they had already grown enough to plant them in the gardens, some with the intention of replacing some that could no longer grow and others to place in different places and have more colors in the gardens

It was hard work because the soil was very dry, even though I had watered it last night. There I realized how the heat affects the plants, but nothing that we could solve with the necessary tools and sometimes resorting to moisten the soil a little.

I was delighted to plant each and every one of the coleus, but I felt more satisfied when I planted the two lilies that I took from a garden where they were not thriving and, after they had leaves and recovered, I planted them in a place where there is almost no vegetation, so they could adapt and offer their beautiful flowers.

I was also able to plant a cutting of mother-in-law's tongue of those that end up mistreated by the neighbors who do not see where they walk, but I take advantage of them to give way to new plants, dry gardens are solutions for dry seasons in which sometimes you have to decide which plants to give priority to, besides that I find them decorative.

I discovered today that one of the plots that has shown a deterioration in terms of plants that are there is infested with black ants, which are quite aggressive, I noticed when I tried to plant a plant there and the anthill came out, I must find a solution to this problem and revive this area.

On the other hand, I liked that my husband accompanied me all day, even he was the one who with a pickaxe opened the land to plant the lilies, obviously some of my cats were also present, but at the end there was an unexpected visitor, a guacharaca that came very close to me and then was a while in the garden I thought it could not fly, but then surprised me by taking flight.

I finished my day a little tired and hot, as I spent midday doing my gardening work, but the best thing was how satisfied I felt and I already wish to see how these plants will thrive to brighten up our eyes with their beauty.

Ver como los proyectos de jardinería se van materializando con dedicación, tiempo y esfuerzo es grato. Hoy plante en los jardines nueve esquejes de cóleo o cretona, dos lirios que rescaté de otro jardín y un esqueje de lengua de suegra.

Se ha hecho costumbre el que, cada vez que planto una cóleo sembrar nuevos esquejes de estas. El motivo es que es una planta con una vida digamos que no muy larga, o al menos en mi caso no he encontrado la manera de alargar la vida de algunas, pues requiere determinadas condiciones para estar en óptimas condiciones y al estar en un jardín a veces no se puede contar con todo lo que se requiere.

La última vez que planté cóleos sembré tres esquejes de cada uno de los cuatro ejemplares que tengo y ya habían crecido lo suficiente como para sembrarlas en los jardines algunas con la intensión de sustituir unas que ya no podían más y otras para colocar en diferentes lugares y tener más colores en los jardines

Fue un trabajo arduo porque la tierra estaba muy seca, aun cuando la había regado anoche. Allí me percaté de como el calor que está haciendo afecta a las plantas, pero nada que nos pudiera solucionar con las herramientas necesarias y a veces recurriendo a humedecer un poco el terreno.

Me encantó sembrar todas y cada una de las cóleos, pero me sentí más satisfecha al sembrar los dos lirios que saqué de un jardín en el que no estaban prosperando y, luego de ya tener hojas y recuperarse los sembré en un lugar en el que no hay casi vegetación falta que se adapten y brinden sus lindas flores.

También pude sembrar un esqueje de lengua de suegra de los que terminan maltratado por los vecinos que no ven por donde caminan, pero yo los aprovecho para dar paso a nuevas plantas, los jardines secos son soluciones para temporadas de sequía en las que a veces hay que decidir a que plantas dar prioridad, además de que me parecen decorativos.

Descubrí hoy que uno de los terrenos que ha mostrado una desmejora en cuanto las plantas que allí están se encuentra infestado de hormigas negras, de las que son bastante agresivas, me percate cuando intente sembrar una planta allí y salió el hormiguero, debo buscar una solución para este problema y revivir esta zona.

Por otro lado, me gusto que mi esposo me acompaño toda la jornada incluso él fue quien con un pico abrió el terreno para sembrar los lirios, obviamente algunos de mis gatos también estuvieron presentes, pero hubo al final un visitante inesperado una guacharaca que se acercó bastante a mí y luego estuvo un rato en el jardín creí que no podía volar, pero luego me sorprendió levantando el vuelo.

Terminé mi jornada un poco cansada y acalorada, pues me dio el mediodía realizando mis labores de jardinería, pero lo mejor fue lo satisfecha que me sentí y ya deseo ver como estas plantas prosperarán para alegrarnos la vista con su belleza.
