My Youtube journey is not going the way I expected
For the last couple of months, I'm trying to build up my youtube account. Let's say it's not going as well as I hoped... This is actually an understatement....
The last four videos that I created made on average about 15 views each. Most of these views came from people on hive where I have embedded the posts....
Have I broken my youtube account?
I made a video that got 2k views and others with over 650 views but lately, things are really not going well. I have the feeling that my videos actually get better but the number of views is flat lining. Am I shadow banned? Is my account considered as crap by youtube? I tried to understand what happened and went through the numbers of the youtube account.
Start over or repair?
After this analysis, the question I asked myself is whether it would be better to start with a clean slate and create a new account. In the video, I explain why I finally decided not to do that and try to repair my account.
How to go forward?
I will create a series of videos in which I document my process. I will first make a diagnostic of the situation, understand what went wrong. After that I will define a strategy, build a plan and then implement it and try to make my youtube account healthy again.
The struggles of small creators
The situation on Youtube is totally different than on hive. On hive, there is no algorithm and you can basically post whatever you want. This is however not true on youtube and it took me some time to understand this. The realization of that is actually very important because it will define whether the youtube journey actually works or not... In my present situation, my channel is doomed but I understand what went wrong and I will work on repairing and I will see whether my realizations lead to the result that I expect.

I am really curious to see your diagnosis and evaluation. Will you (or did you use AI to help you)? Maybe a tip if you haven't already - try using several different AIs in your analysis.
For the diagnosis and understanding, I've been using several AI tools. I even created a map to illustrate my channel to get a visible, more understandable output. More about it, in the next video :-)

I wasn't subscribed! But I've corrected that.
My only observation so far is related to tagging your YouTube videos. Because I noticed that the top two viewed videos have tags. But the others that I looked at do not. That's not a complete check, but even from my very small sample, it seems significant.
Note that I don't publish on YouTube. Mostly because I have no real video making skills. But also because, when I looked into it several years ago, it seemed to me that videos are much harder to promote than written articles. However, things change. So it might be easier now.
Hopefully, now that I'm subscribed, I won't miss any more. Because I'm looking forward to seeing how you resurrect your channel.

Interesting, I have been doing a shitload of research and watching so called experts. 2026 is changing things up. AI use is being looked at, I see umpteen AI channels being demonitsed.
It is a struggle. We actually just had our best ever video by fluffing miles yesterday. We never hit more than 75 views and seemed to average around 55 or so. But on Wednesday we only got 20 I was a bit doom and gloom, but then we did a spur of the moment yarn haul event from Aldi the supermarket and got close to 500 views. Jump on a trend and it worked wonders.
I agree with @keithtaylor and I don't see you coming up as a suggestion.
One interesting fact about the algo that we should not forget is that it wants to help you. It wants people to love your videos and watch more and even stay longer on the platform. So yes confusing it by not know who your audience is if you post too much content all over the place does not help. Now I want to see what you have found as I intend really going for it with Mrs T channel!
I really liked the first part of the video that you shared and the title animations look great. You did a great job for the first 30 seconds. It's great to see the views evolve over the gap of 50 :-).
I will go more in detail about it in the next video but essentially that was the big issue about my account. I tricked the algorithm in not knowing whom to show the videos lol.

Exactly. The problem is that this account exists for 12 years already and most of my subscribers game from a time where I made content for a totally different niche.
Okay, so you are now pivoting to a new niche, but been given a gift of a bunch of subs, so yes although they don't watch now, at least those numbers are in the bag!
Exactly, the problem with that is that I pivoted the channel content a bit too frequently and totally confused the algorithm. I will talk about that in the next video.

I think it's an interesting thing to look at. I have noticed that a few people have talked about how the system seems to be not suggesting crypto related stuff as much anymore. At least, I haven't seen much crypto lately on my feed.
