War, Money, and Nonsense

Zuckerberg's apology to the families of the so-called victims of his platform generated quite a round of applause. I won't delve too deeply into the recent hearing and the mentioned victims, but it's evident that all this is nothing but a circus.

Remember Zuckerberg's testimony from a few years ago? The one with the Cambridge Analytica scandal. It's the same story, then and now. "Social media owners" are frequently called out publicly for the issues their platforms cause, yet nothing substantial happens. It's all just a show.

Sanctions on Russia fall into a similar category. Two years have passed since the start of the war in Ukraine. The world hastily imposed sanctions on the Russian economy, only to witness a marginal improvement two years later, after all the grandstanding.

Another topic deserving more attention is corruption in Ukraine. A year before the war, Times magazine labeled it the most corrupt country globally. Fast forward to 2022, the world seems to have forgotten, sending billions in military aid to the country.

Unfortunately, much of that aid found its way into the pockets of politicians. Many profited through investments in the military-industrial complex, all at the expense of young lives lost in meaningless conflicts.

Currently, five Ukrainian military officials are under investigation for siphoning $40 million in U.S. military aid, just the tip of the iceberg. I'm willing to bet there's more to that. Months ago, it emerged that those with enough money in Ukraine could avoid military service altogether.

It's always the poor and uninformed who pay the toll for the elites' decisions. During the COVID era, the "general public" was pushed towards vaccination, while the elites enjoyed maskless parties. Meanwhile, medical personnel danced on TikTok, seemingly detached from the suffering of those battling severe diseases.

We've made progress on the evolutionary scale, yet our behaviors often reflect our primal instincts. When will the world truly change? I don't know. Farmers are protesting across Europe, and while Bitcoin holds potential for change, the world seems more troubled than it was two decades ago, despite technological advancements.

The concept of family is on the verge of extinction, gender identities blur, and economic values erode. I heard today that food prices will spike in March, and farmer aid will lead to increased taxes.

But we convince ourselves we're fine. The impending recession keeps getting delayed, while inflation remains sky-high. Speaking of economics, I'm curious about the models economists use to predict the future. Do they account for OnlyFans and webcam models, prostitution income, crypto, and the influence of social media?

Economies aren't the same as three decades ago, so why rely on outdated data models and algorithms? There's so much nonsense in the world, amplified by technology. Yet, technology also offers the individual a chance to participate more actively in global affairs, if they choose to.

The problem is, the masses underutilize the potential technology provides. Meanwhile, the elites offer feeble excuses, like Zuckerberg recently did, as they continue with their plans.

Bitcoin was supposed to be a Trojan horse but ended up becoming just another asset class. Has it failed its purpose? Perhaps, but the game isn't over. Unfortunately, the masses don't seem to be waking up to the issues in the world.

We possess the tools to stop wars, leverage blockchain for a new form of digital cash, cultivate better food, and use social media productively. Instead, we're driven by algorithms, yet we've barely scratched the surface of AI's potential in shaping minds and building narratives. Have a great day, peeps! Over and out.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

Everything the US Congress does anymore is just a show with zero substance. I can't wait until nobody on earth cares what anyone in Washington DC is doing.

Ukraine will never win the war. Putin will rather nuke the whole world instead of losing against the US. That's the sad truth...
