The World Pretty Much Died in The '90s...

Imagine being the creator of one of the most renowned messaging apps in the world and still being super cautious about using social media... What do these people know that we don't?! I'm talking about Pavel Durov here...

In a recent interview with Lex Friedman, he stated that he tries to stay away from social media as much as possible because of the constant information we're bombarded with.

Whether we like it or not, the feeds that pop up before our eyes daily feed us endless information that our subconscious mind is always processing, and much of that useless info gets stored in our memory. I quit Facebook over eight years ago, and I still remember some of the posts from people I followed back then.

Now, when you realize how well-designed an app like Facebook is to make users addicted, you see how easily people are controlled through social media. But social media is fake, right...

I was listening to some old tunes last night, and at some point, this thought hit me: the world died in the late '90s. I don't know exactly how, but it feels like there's so much fake shit around us compared to those times.

Cars these days use such cheap materials, no matter the brand or price paid. Phones don't last nearly as long as the old ones did, clothes look like shit in most cases and fall apart so easily, and human relationships seem to be following the same trend.

Social media profiles are kind of an extension of our true identity, but not quite accurate because on social media, pretty much everyone is trying to be as fake as possible, with or without intention.

Muscles are fake, happiness is fake, love is fake, kindness is fake, and so on and so forth...Very few people post themselves on social media when they're suffering. But then again, ask yourself, when have you met a person who's happy all the time? I sure know I haven't met anyone like that.

Social media is a rabbit hole because the deeper you go, the less likely you are to escape it. Social media is probably why so many of us take out credit to buy all sorts of shiny new stuff.

You know the saying: spend money you don't have to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't actually know, or really care about...

Damn, I so miss the days of the late '90s. I'd say back then we were all Buddhist monks 'cause we were living in the present moment so fully. Time's on a one-way road, though... It's never going back.

Anyway, that's about it from my side. Wishing you all a great Sunday, and I'll catch up with you next time.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian

It was indeed a much better era back in the 90s. There were no much competition and things was much easier. But with the bath of technology, things went south
