I Got Myself a Good Deal...

About a month ago, I bought myself a new phone, the OnePlus 13. I decided to do so after digesting consistent internet reviews, and I don’t regret switching back to Android for a second. I was an iPhone user for about one year and two months, and that’s enough for me.

A few days after getting my hands on the OnePlus 13, I posted an ad for my iPhone on some eBay-like app. After about a month of waiting, I didn’t get any offers for it. I wasn’t selling it too high at all, but I guess the market is oversaturated with iPhones, which is why they’re so hard to sell.

A friend of mine had a gaming laptop he was selling, and we ended up trading my iPhone plus an extra $100 for it. He wanted a new iPhone for his daughter, and I was feeling like my laptop, an HP EliteBook I’d owned for about five years, was getting dated.

This way, I swapped my old laptop for a relatively new one and sold my old one for the exact $100 I added on top of my iPhone for the trade. As a matter of fact, I got the HP as a gift from a friend five years ago, which means it didn’t cost me any money, but I still got some cash for it though.

I sold the old laptop to some friends, bought my current one from another friend, and he took the iPhone as barter for the laptop for his daughter, which shows barter hasn’t really gone extinct. I’ve noticed something lately though... People are more likely to buy stuff these days, which might mean we’re already in a recession.

BUt anyway... Let me tell you a thing or two about the laptop I got. It goes by the name DELL G15 5530, and it’s a gaming gadget, but I’m not into gaming. Still, I like it because it’s blazing fast and looks pretty damn robust to me.

The thing rocks an Intel i7 13th-generation processor, 32 GB RAM after an upgrade by my friend (it came standard with 16 GB), and he also added 2 TB of storage to the original 1 TB the laptop came with. Since it’s a gaming device, that means the video card is dope as fuck, and it is. It’s got 8 GB of RAM.

I honestly don’t need such a powerful laptop, but I’m thinking about the future. Having a potent device like this means I’ll be able to use it for many years ahead. I’m planning on posting on Hive from this thing for at least eight years from now.

I was thinking of taking out the extra 2 TB hard disk and selling it, but I remember @3speak mentioned something about renting disk space on your device to the network and getting rewards for that. I still hope that’ll become a reality at some point in the future. If we get that feature on Hive, I’ll be sharing these extra 2 TB with @3speak.

Meanwhile, I’m using it for consuming content, creating content, and all sorts of mundane stuff I would’ve done with my old one too, but it feels good having more power under the hood when needed. The display supports 4K videos, which is awesome...

However, I’m not too impressed with the battery, which lasts about two hours or so without using heavily demanding apps. I keep it on my desk most of the time, and the charger’s at hand, so no worries about the battery.

All I need now is a better car... But moving to a better one means I’d need to at least 10X my crypto portfolio, which at this point seems almost impossible. Anyway, that’s about it from my side for now. Wishing you all a great day, and I’ll catch up with you next time.
