Boredom

Never in the history of humanity has this species been so bored. Never in the history of humanity has this species been so lazy. Never ever will we return to past times, and that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing...

I mean, life is about the next chapter, about overcoming challenges and building back better. Not the "build back better" Biden had in mind, but the kind of rebuilding typical of any evolution where creating something new—something sustainable and worth fighting for—means destroying the old.

If we had been fine with the cars, phones, clothes, and weapons we were using twenty years ago, we wouldn’t have needed progress or change. But we wanted more—better, faster, safer, and more convenient shit. And now, we’ve got plenty of that. But the industrialization of everything, turning into mass production of all sorts of consumer shit, killed much of the spirit that once fueled our species.

Most of us now are consumers rather than producers, and that’s why we’re so damn bored. We’re so bored that, despite having so much stuff available, we still struggle to find purpose in life and get tired of everything so easily. It almost feels like society was designed this way to keep us trapped in the matrix.

I often hear people say they’ve had enough of big cities but never leave them. It’s not just about the opportunities in big cities; to some extent, they’re like concentration camps. High living costs mean you have to work more, selling your time to sustain a lifestyle you might not even need.

@edicted's blog profile motto is: Freedom From Debt-Slavery... So simple, so obvious, yet so many refuse to choose the path of avoiding debt slavery and instead embrace it just to buy more shit.

Shit that’s supposed to impress people who don’t actually give a shit about us. So, what should we strive for? I’d say “to be” should rank higher on our priorities than “to have.” Very few think about how a job makes them feel rather than just how much money it brings in.

Most social media influencers care more about their follower count and revenue than the message they’re putting out. The more you consume social media, the more you realize it’s not the meaningful stuff being promoted but the stuff that sells.

Doing dumb shit, wasting time and money, and creating no value through social media content defines some of the biggest YouTube and Facebook accounts. Take MrBeast, for example... What the fuck is that guy actually doing? How does his content change you after watching it?

Hence, the chronic boredom humanity is grappling with, and again, it feels like it’s by design. Otherwise, such content wouldn’t be pushed to the public. Meaningful stuff creates motivation, and motivated people aren’t bored or acting like zombies.

When you make a good trade, run a solid business, or do a job you actually like, you don’t get bored. Boredom and a life without purpose or meaning is such a waste. I’m kinda saying this from my own perspective, and this post is mostly for myself, so don’t take it personally.

Matrix was a great movie in its time; now it feels more like reality. I often feel like we’re living in a matrix—a debt-based slavery type of matrix. Don’t you think? Have a great day, and I’ll catch up with you all next time.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
