Back and Forth...

How do you get more? More of everything...

Rarely have I heard anyone say they don’t want more of something—anything you can imagine. Like more money, more fame, more sex, more travel experiences, more tech goodies, cars, or whatever... It’s hard to plateau, and it’s probably a good thing us humans are wired this way.

Not everything we crave more of is actually good for us. But you gotta test and see for yourself... Like I did with my father’s car.

He drives the same Audi model as me, just with better paint than mine, though my interior’s in better shape than his. Other than that, they’re identical in specs. A while back, I told him I’d used a power box to make my car run faster while using less fuel...

And he wanted to try it too. He’s in town for a few days, and since I’d already taken the damn thing off my car—planning to sell it—he figured he’d give it a shot. It took us about ten minutes to mount it, and it’ll probably take less to remove.

We’ll have to remove it because the map this power box uses, or the tweaks it makes to the car’s ECU, ain’t doing the engine any favors. It definitely boosts power, but even when driving normally, the amount of black smoke it’s now spitting out the exhaust is way too much.

The car doesn’t usually leave “black trails,” but now it does, and that’s not good. So, we gotta yank the damn chip out and leave the car stock. Or he could get a professional remap from a specialized shop and avoid the hassle.

These things, although cheap, don’t seem to work that well. It’s true that diesel engines, especially older ones, are heavier smokers than petrol engines, but when there’s too much smoke, something’s wrong. You can only try, though... Cuz, as I said in the intro, there’s no evolution without failed attempts.

It’s close to 35 degrees Celsius outside right now, and his engine’s still pretty warm since he drove it earlier today, so we’ll wait until this evening to take that thing out.

Until then, it’s time for some refreshment... Have a great day, everyone, and catch y’all next time.

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
