Haunted during the exams (nonfiction prompt)
It was about three years ago in the freezing month of January. I was living in Hyderabad in a flat that was closed for almost 4 years. I had an exam in that city so I had to live there for a week. I am a kind of person who cannot live alone in such places. This is why I asked my elder brother to come and live with me there. I should make it clear that the building was totally isolated from other residential areas. Still, we decided to live there because it was a matter of a few days only.
I was not getting good vibes with that decision, but there was no other viable option that could be arranged in the last moment. After reaching there, we cleaned the flat and also had a conversation with the neighbours who seemed kind. This was the flat of my aunt who had shifted from here to another city long ago.
First few nights, we were too busy with my exam and in our settlements, so we did not notice anything odd or paranormal. Most of our day was spent outside the flat. We just used it to get some sleep and I used to wake up at 4 in the morning to revise some important topics.
The flat had two rooms and a hall. Kitchen and washroom were built in the hall. The details are very important to the incident. The doors of the room were built of wood and the external door was built of Iron and steel. Knocking on both the doors would create completely different sounds. Keep this in mind.
After my last exam on the 5th of January 2020, I was so relieved and excited to have some quality time. Hence, I did not sleep at all. My brother was asleep in the same room where I was using my cellphone.
At around 3 in the morning, I turned of the lights to get some sleep. I laid on the bed and started using my phone. After 15 minutes I heard some very clear knocks on the door of the room. I can still hear those knocks very clearly in my head. It felt like someone was there in the hall waiting for me to open the door. I don't know how or why but I was not scared. I did not wake my brother up. I could feel the presence of somebody, something paranormal. I could not move I just stayed there in that very position till dawn.
In the morning I told this to my brother and he was speechless and did not believe me at first. After that, I called my cousin and told her everything. She told me that their flat was 'haunted' and told us that such incidents were pretty normal for them. This was not normal for a weak hearted person like me. This is why I and my brother decided to leave for our home immediately. While we were leaving, it felt like our hearts were being over burdened. That feeling still creeps me out and sends shivers down my spine. I have never even went to that side of the city again in my life and would never go again.

That's so creepy, if I'm the one, I will just clutched to my brother. How did you manage to sleep? In that situation I don't think you will get some sleep. Just some imaginations flooding your head.
I didn't sleep at all. I just laid in that position for the rest of the night. I didn't know which force made me brave.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙏
How creepy! I can't imagine the bad vibes you felt at that moment. I couldn't sleep at night and I would immediately leave there. The imagination becomes a torment.
Verily, I am not sure what kept me lying there. I didn't even wake my brother up.
The specific details about the flat's layout and the different door materials are clever, as they provide clarity later when the narrator hears knocks.
Yes, these are pretty important 😁
What's an experience. You were even courageous by not waking your brother up. That is the first thing I would have rush to do first if I were in your shoes. It's a good thing you guys vacated the building immediately your cousin made it clear it was haunted.
Such experiences are very rare to be honest this is why I took the advice of my cousin very seriously.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a great day my friend 💞
So so creepy, I would have shouted and even called 911.
Authorities Don't respond so quickly here especially at midnight.
Oh I didn't know.... thanks
It's okay 😂
Alright then
How was your day?
My day is going well.... thank you for asking.
