One last crack at the Salthill Fives Football Tournament

Young again!

Did you ever try to relive your youth?

I did just that on Saturday at the Galway Fives in Salthill in Galway. It's one of the biggest five a side tournaments in the country and many top players from the League of Ireland and international players have played in it over the years.

When a friend reached out to see if I wanted to play in his team, it didn't require much thought and I said yes straight away. I'd played in the Fives plenty of times in my twenties and it was always a great experience.

We togged out and we competed well and it was a great day. We competed well in our matches.

There was one downside though!! I got taken out of it with a late challenge and did my ankle.

I had an X ray yesterday and luckily there is no break and it's just a Grade 3 sprain which I've had many times before, so it's into recovery mode now and try and get the ankle back right again.

Thanks as always for stopping by everyone

Peace Out

Ouch!! I've had that. It's a bastard to heal!

Ya it's a dose and as you say it takes a while to heal right. I'm hoping to be able to golf on it in two weeks 🙏

I brought kids to golf practice area yesterday and can chip and putt easily.

I hit one drive for the fun and went straight about 240 yards, but if you'd have seen the swing you'd have laughed. It finished with me on one foot, quickly lifting my damaged right foot off the ground, as my body weight shifted 🤣

Whew, glad it's not broken! One of my guys just got over a similar injury due to a dirt bike tumble. Seems like it took a couple weeks at least for it to be good for walking without limping, and another couple to be back to normal. Recovery mode it is. Heal quickly!

Ya I was relieved when the doctor said there was no break. She did she a tiny little imperfection, but she believes it's a ligament torn away from bone and not a fracture or anything.

What would Roy Keane do?

I hope you got the guy’s name for next year…

Ha ha ha.

The guy was apologetic and nice about it. He didn't mean to do me, just badly timed was all.

So ya, I'll badly time him with a Cantona style kung fu tackle next year!

Funnily enough I tried to.

My kids were there for the last match, so strapped it up and tried to play second half. Lasted one minute and had three touches 😔

I must be on around eight ankle ligament injuries at this stage 🤯🙈
