Where Does Comparing Ourselves to others Lead us?

Hello to all hive users 🤗❤️🙏
Hope you all are healthy and doing great in your life🙂

The phrase, "They have this, and we have nothing," or "We don't even have that much," probably comes up in your daily routine. These words clearly indicate that you are comparing yourself to someone else. We see that many people constantly compare themselves to others in one way or another. Some compare themselves based on money or possessions, while others compare themselves based on personality, and this cycle continues. If we look at the origins of this, it starts in our schools, where you've likely seen children's grades being shown to each other so they can compare themselves. The child who gets the highest marks is often used by teachers to compare against those with lower marks, and this is where the habit of comparison begins to form in our minds. After school, we see the same thing at home, where parents compare their children to their neighbors' children, saying things like, "Their child is good at studies as well as sports," or "They perform well in other extracurricular activities," and so on. Does comparing yourself to others really matter? To some extent, it might, but when it goes beyond a certain limit, it can have many negative consequences. In recent years, people have started comparing themselves to others much more frequently, and the reason behind this is social media. We see posts on social media from people who live a better life and have a lot of money. They portray themselves as having a much better life than us on social media, but in reality, this is not always the case.

If we keep comparing ourselves to others in this way, the first thing that enters our lives is dissatisfaction. Even if we have enough in our lives to live comfortably and we lack nothing in terms of basic necessities, if we start comparing ourselves to others, we can't even appreciate what we have. We forget that some people yearn for the kind of life we have, a life where our basic needs are met, yet we remain dissatisfied because someone else is better off. This constant comparison is always running through our minds. Another effect of comparison is a decrease in self-confidence. If you are constantly comparing yourself to others, you will always feel inferior, and this can lead to a drop in your self-esteem. The way people compare themselves often leads to overthinking, and sometimes they take actions they shouldn't. In an attempt to be like others, they often spend money they shouldn't, and I've seen people take out loans at exorbitant interest rates just to show that they are better than others, all because of this constant comparison. If comparison is approached in the right way, it can lead to success, but if taken negatively, it can ruin a person's life.
