Modern forms of slavery

If you have read history and are interested in knowing about history, then you must have heard about slavery. In ancient times, how the weak and poor people were deprived of their rights and were treated like a commodity. The way a commodity is bought or sold, in the same way some people were also exchanged in this way, which was a very wrong thing. But gradually modernity kept coming in people and after that such practices started decreasing. Then as new laws came in the law and order, then all people started getting equal rights and things like slavery started ending. Today the year is 2025 and in today's time there is no such thing as slavery. But if we look carefully, slavery has ended but there are many things similar to it which are seen in our society. The thing to think about is that today everyone in the society is so educated and there are so many types of laws but still no one speaks against these things and these things are still going on. The biggest surprise is when people here say that this thing is wrong but what to do, if there is compulsion then we have to do it.

If we look at anything related to slavery in today's time, the first thing that comes in it is bonded labour. I am talking about bonded labour because it is from small to very large level and this thing is also seen in today's corporate world. In the olden days, you must have seen that the poor people used to take loans from rich people and after taking the loan, they were not able to repay the money and nothing was mortgaged, so the rich people used to employ those poor people to work for them and they were not paid any money for their wages, they were made to work as per their own will. The poor man did not even know that he was being made to work many times more than the price he had taken. Although there was law and order at that time, no one paid attention to these things and neither did anyone speak against these things. If you go to any remote town even in today's time, you will find such things there too, which is completely wrong.

Apart from this, the other thing that I feel is child labour. Although child labour is rarely seen in today's time, there was a time when you could see child labourers everywhere. Child labour was wrong because at the age when children should be studying and thinking about their future, those children were made to work. Child labour is also wrong because some people used to make children do arbitrary work and paid them very little or did not pay them at all. In today's time, if you go to a remote area and visit a hotel or dhaba, you will definitely find child labourers there who do work in the hotel like cleaning or helper in food etc.

Apart from this, there is one more thing which is very common and I think this thing is also wrong. There are some corporate sector companies which are giving employment to people but do not follow the government made labour laws. For example, the first thing is how many hours can an employee work. Although this thing may seem normal to you but there are some rules for this too and if you are making an employee do extra work or you feel that it will take more time for the employees to do some work, then is that company paying overtime money to the employees. There are many companies which make them work for more hours than the prescribed limit but also pay them according to the rules. You must have heard the name of minimum labour wages, there are some companies which do not even follow these wages, they just show on paper that we have paid them this much salary but in reality the matter is something else.

There are many other things which are like slavery and are very prevalent in today's time. It is very important to stop all these because these things are not good for the society at all because the person who faces these things and what happens, only he knows how difficult it is.
