Drip Irrigation For Hanging Pots
Hello to all hive users π€β€οΈπ
Hope you all are healthy and doing great in your lifeπ
I am very fond of planting flowers in my house and just a while ago I brought two hanging flower pots. I had also ordered plants for these from someone and one plant was already available in our house. First of all I planted both those plants in the hanging flower pot, after that I started watering them so that their growth could be good.
The biggest problem with these hanging pots was that there were a lot of drainage holes in them and due to so many drainage holes, when I used to pour water from above with the help of a mug, it would immediately fall on the floor and many times if there was any item below, it would also get wet. I had to make some such Jugaad for these two pots so that water would go into them slowly and when there would be drainage below, it would be very slow or almost negligible. I remembered that some time ago I had ordered a drip irrigation kit for the rest of the pots in my house. I had some parts of the drip irrigation kit with me because I had ordered a kit for about 100 plants but there were too many plants and I did not have that many pots. Then another thought came to my mind and I thought why not do it through drip irrigation but it would not be appropriate to connect only two water pipes and then water would not reach here due to the height. Then a solution came to my mind and I thought of doing drip irrigation in it with the help of a bottle.
First of all I found an old water bottle from a store room which was of around 1 litre and according to me this much water would be sufficient for one time.
After this, what you are seeing are drip emitters and stakes. If you don't know, then let me tell you that water comes out of the emitter at a very slow speed and these emitters were adjustable, so we could increase or decrease the flow of water according to our requirement. The job of the stake is to set the emitter at a fixed place in the pot so that the emitter does not move here and there.
This is a 4 mm feeder pipe which brings water from the main connection to the ammeter.
Apart from this I needed some cutting tools so that I could cut the water bottle and pipe.
Finally I needed a hole punching tool and M-seal to prevent leakage. I had to make two holes in the water bottle to let the water reach the ammeter but I suspected that water would leak from these areas.
To make the hole I first took the help of that pointed tool but even after a lot of effort it didn't make a hole and if I had applied too much pressure then the bottle might have slipped. So I heated that tool with the help of a candle and after that I made a hole in the bottle which was done very easily.
After making a hole in the bottle, I installed two pin connectors there which came with my old drip irrigation kit and it was necessary to install them because the 4 mm feeder pipe is connected here, so according to this, it is very important.
Now I cut the top of the bottle a little because I will pour water in this bottle with the help of a jug and if the top part is small then there will be problem in pouring water, that's why I made the bottle upside area a little wider.
Then I suddenly realized that I would have to make holes in the upper part of the bottle for the wire on which I would hang the bottle because there would be no other option for hanging it. Then I again made markings on the upper part of the bottle face to face and after that I heated it with the help of the same tool and made holes in the bottle.
Now I needed a heavy duty wire which could easily bear the weight of the bottle and for that I found a piece of wire in the store room which fitted perfectly.
After this I cut the 4mm feeder pipe into equal parts and then connected the ammeter and stakes together. Now I just had to join them with pin connectors.
First of all I tied the bottle properly with wire at the top so that it does not open and then I made it equal from both the sides so that the flow of water is not affected.
I tied the bottle properly. Now finally the setup was complete. Then I fixed the drip emitter in the pot with the help of stakes and set the emitter at a fixed place.
After this I put M seal near the 4 millimeter pin connector because leakage is bound to happen so to avoid any leakage I put M seal there.
Now I left the M seal to dry for some time, about 3 hours and after 3 hours when I filled water in the bottle, I was happy to see that water was flowing very well from both the emitters and there was no leakage. My idea went success here and water is not leaking out too much.
Less water was being used and the floor below was not getting damaged. The growth of plants was also good.

This is so creative bro,
Nice work on the bottle, I'm sure this would be more effective than those over expensive stuffs online
I searched it online but it was a bit expensive so I used my brain and made this one.
