Challenges in Plastic Waste Recycling
Hello to all hive users 🤗❤️🙏
Hope you all are healthy and doing great in your life🙂
Look around you and I can say with confidence that you will find at least 70% of the things around you made of plastic. Plastic plays an important role in our lives today and if we look at it, its use has increased a lot in the last few years. I still remember very well that when we had to drink cold drinks, we used to go to the shop and drink glass cold drinks and at that time cold drinks that came in plastic bottles were rarely seen and cold drinks with high capacity came in plastic bottles but nowadays even a 100 ml cold drink comes packed in a plastic bottle. Plastic is considered bad because first of all it does not decompose and secondly, there are very few plastics that are recycled. The plastics that are recycled are reused for some other purpose but the single use plastic is a type of garbage that will never end and gradually it will keep increasing around us and then after some time we will see plastic all around us. Plastic also causes a lot of damage to the environment and if plastic is dumped in the fields or in any place where there are trees or any kind of crop, then it also stops the growth of that thing and till the time the plastic is there, there will be no crops in that field. Just a few days ago, I was cleaning the field next to my house and when I dug deep down, I saw that a shampoo pouch was there and I was surprised that this shampoo had stopped coming long ago but still it was in such a condition as if it was brand new and when I saw its manufacturing date, it was of 2010. You can say that no change has been seen in almost 15 years and this was just a single shampoo packet. You must have seen around you so many single-use plastics lying scattered here and there and God knows how many people use such single-use plastics daily and then throw them here and there which leads to more pollution.

Now, although the government emphasizes on plastic recycling and sometimes even bans single use plastic, is plastic recycling really that easy? I don't think it is that easy because the government does not have any proper system for plastic recycling. I am saying this because even though the government may set up big recycling plants or bring technology for recycling, the most important step of recycling is to sort and collect the right kind of recycled plastic. This is a very important step and through this the further process starts. The first thing is that the government has not made any such arrangement in which it has not made any store or door to door where people can collect recyclable plastic and plastic recycling through garbage takes a lot of time because sorting out plastic from so much garbage is a big challenge and it also requires a lot of manpower because this is not the work of a machine.
If a junk collector comes to our house, we give him many kinds of plastic but he himself does not know which plastic he should collect so that he can recycle it. I see that he takes away all kinds of plastic items from the house.
Now it is the duty of the public to take care of their environment and their homes. As a citizen, they should have a responsibility towards the environment but nowadays there are very few people who follow this. In such a situation, I would like to say that the government will have to encourage people a little, like it can do this that there will be a recycled plastic collector store in every city where people will collect those plastics which are recyclable and in return you will be given some money. Due to which many people will get employment and at the same time the environment will also be saved from getting polluted because people will earn some money instead of throwing plastic here and there.
