Today's world has become completely digital, and you likely do something every day that is digital or that reflects your digital presence. Even if you just unlock your mobile phone for a short time, your digital footprint is immediately visible. Everyone uses mobile phones these days because they have become so essential. So, in this situation, the question arises: can a person remain completely anonymous? Can someone erase their digital identity? As I mentioned, today's era is entirely digital, and everything you do is traced. Every online activity you perform is recorded. Even simply unlocking your mobile phone provides evidence of your digital identity, showing that you are online. In a way, it's very difficult to hide your identity. If you want to remain anonymous on social media, there are several options available. Many people create profiles with different names and use social media, or they make all their online activities private, so they can only see others' activities but don't engage in any activities themselves, and it's not apparent whether they are online or offline. However, the companies know everything, but a normal person wouldn't know whether that person is online or offline. These companies track your every activity, and after tracking, they create a profile of you. Based on this profile, you are shown content that you might like. For example, when you search for something on Google, you'll notice that related advertisements start appearing on various platforms. This is digital marketing, and it involves collecting people's information.

The only way to remain completely anonymous is to stop using mobile phones and internet services. This is the only way to appear offline to the entire world, but even this is not possible in today's world because using a mobile phone has become essential. For example, if you need to make a payment at a shop and don't have cash, you have to use your mobile phone for online transfers. Similarly, if you go to a hospital, digital prescriptions are used these days, making online access mandatory. Furthermore, if you use banking services, you have to reveal your identity after a short period of time, otherwise, your account will be temporarily locked.

You don't even need to be completely offline these days, because being online has become a necessity. Many opportunities are only available online, and if you look around, you'll see that in many sectors, offline systems have been completely phased out, leaving online as the only option. If you don't utilize this online option, you will be deprived of those services.
One thing we can control is how much of ourselves we choose to show online. Many people post online daily and share a lot of things; they enjoy sharing their online activity and staying connected with their social media friends, which is why they do it. However, some people don't like this and simply want to use these platforms without oversharing. Fortunately, there are many options available for them today. Furthermore, you can choose not to use these applications at all if you're not interested. By doing so, you can limit your online activity to only what's necessary, preventing your activity from being tracked unnecessarily, since it won't be tracked if you're not using the platforms.

The conclusion is that we cannot completely hide our online presence because if you are online, you can be tracked in some way or another. And nowadays, with the use of advanced tools, this has become even easier. You can only control your online activities and limit your online presence to what is absolutely necessary.
