My Thumbnail Says It All

I have this friend who has been dreaming about one particular car for years. It’s a very expensive car, and anytime we see one in town, he says something like “I’ll get you soon.” Today, we saw one, and as usual, he did his normal manifestation, and right after that, the car stopped in front of us.

Coincidentally, the person driving was my mom’s friend, so he spoke to me for a while to ask how life was going. I used that opportunity to tell him his car was my friend’s dream car, and that was when he started telling us how he got to where he was now.

I was actually very happy that he brought it up because I’ve been trying my best to tell my friend the same thing. He told us he started working as an errand boy in one particular company. Although he was employed to work as an engineer, they didn’t trust him enough and weren’t paying his worth.

He had to start changing that, and one particular problem he fixed landed him the recognition he needed. And as soon as he was recognized, he realized it was time to shine, so he took the risk of leaving that company for another company.

The moment he got to the other company, he wasn’t an errand boy, but he had to start from scratch. And as time went by, he started climbing the ladder. That’s how he got to where he is now.

After hearing the story, I held my friend’s ear like an African mom holding her son’s ear to make sure he heard what was said. I was so happy that he shared his story because my friend completed school many years ago but has chosen not to work because he wants to land a company that can pay him the amount he wants.

I’ve been telling him that he has to start from somewhere and get to wherever he wants to get to. You don’t just start and then you are where you want to be. And with how he doesn’t even have any experience, it’s going to be tough for certain people to even employ him.

I don’t know what makes the topic of success hard to discuss. People love success, but they don’t want to hear about the success ladder, which involves risks, sweat, investment, sacrifice, and others. They don’t even want to know what it entails. All they want is to jump stairs to get to the top. And that’s something I’ve not heard before.
