For this week's #beersaturday, I'm showing you a beer from the Girona (Catalonia, Spain) brewery, SOMA Beer. For me, they're the kings of modern IPAs (Hazy, New England) in the country and among the best in all of Europe. Believe me, I'm not exaggerating. It's true that this brand makes almost 95% of its production with IPAs and DIPAs, and there's hardly any difference between them, but you have to admit they're brilliant and make beers of excellent quality, bordering on excellence.

SOMA Beer was founded in 2016 by Ramón Prats. Its story began when he tried a hoppy beer for the first time, an experience that left its mark on him, like so many other IPA lovers like me. This interest led him to experiment, and over time, this passion transformed into a highly successful and recognized professional project.

The beer I'm showing you is one of the few beers the brand tends to repeat and releases periodically. Currently, SOMA is in a creative and productive frenzy and usually releases around eight new beers every month. It's quite rare, not only at SOMA but among all current craft beer brands, for their cans to be repeated. This fact tires me personally. It's fine to try new things, but I also like to repeat those I like, and unfortunately, this rarely happens.

But back to the beer. This is the Eazy IPA. As its name suggests, it's an IPA for everyone, with the brand's hallmarks: a fruity flavor, incredible density and silkiness, and a powerful flavor that will leave you in awe. Tropical fruit and citrus in harmony. The hops used are Nectaron, Citra, and Mosaic. 5% of alcohol that kicks in on its own, and 69 IBUs of bitterness that are noticeable at the finish, leaving an addictive aftertaste.

A highly recommended IPA.

Now that’s how you do #beersaturday right! SOMA is absolutely killing the hazy IPA game, and your excitement totally comes through. I agree with you on wanting to revisit favorites. All these constant one-offs are fun, but hey, when a beer hits the spot like Eazy IPA, you wanna come back to it. Thanks for bringing this one to the spotlight. Now I’m seriously craving a tropical, silky pint. Cheers! 🍺✨
