Maybe I don't want to be Happy

What if we really don't need to pursue happiness?
Hi Hivers, it's Abeegail again, welcome to my blog. Is it just me or is everyone just low-key obsessed with happiness. I'm not saying happiness is a bad thing but the fact that we are doing everything we can to stay happy just seems crazy to me.
As a society we don't want to feel any thing else other than happiness. We hear write the thing that made you happy, cheer as soon as you feel disappointed or sad, smile more, happiness is our birthright. We never want to process other emotions, we never want sit with it as it. This view is teaching the young ones that happiness is default and happiness is the goal but what this does is just creating a new culture disease called the fear of sadness.

What we should strive for is wholeness not happiness. This includes the pretty emotions like, joy, excitement, fulfillment but also the heavy ones: sadness, frustration, failure, heartbreak, fear that makes use who we are. Happiness and victory and fulfillment are nice little things that also happen to us, but they don't teach us much. Who we are is built by how we handle these uncomfortable situations and we learn alot during uncomfortable times.
The funny thing is everyone says the pain and sadness makes you grow but as soon as we experience the pain and sadness we say "Quick! Move on! Cheer up!". We don't sit with it and process, you stop asking the question does this makes me happy and start asking how does this feeling contribute to my wholeness. So maybe happiness isn't the default, maybe we are also allowed to feel other emotions too.
It's Still Abeegail ✨💗
