Friendship VS Relationships

These days relationship and love are being forced down your throats until you choke on it and if you are not in a relationship, then there must be something wrong with you. Girls aren't pretty unless there's a guy that wants her and boys aren't it unless they are having sex. people aren't loveable until they are dating someone.

Recently one of my friends asked me if I was in a relationship and I said no, and he was shocked like have said a taboo. Especially as young adults, we've tied relationships and love to our self worth, like if you not in one, then nobody really wants you. Don't get me wrong, romance is great, but it won't always make you happy. There's more to life than relationships, like friendship.

Friendship is so underrated, everyone wants sexy, hot, and steamy. But there are friendship more deeper and pure than couples who swear for better or for worse. I have seen strong bonds between friends that has nothing to do with kissing and candlelight dinners. Friends who will go places, no questions asked, where and whenever, friends who will fight till the ends of the earth — and yet we ignore this.

What really gets under my skin, is when I hear "nobody loves me" from people who are single. What of your siblings, your parents, your friends, your pet. What do you think they feel about you. You say they don't count, how do they not count, of course they count. Love doesn't lessen because someone doesn't want to sleeping with you, as a matter of fact, It makes the love more real that they want nothing out of you, not even a date.

I feel relationships are overrated, like it's a prize to be won, like it proves our worth. It is magical to fall in love, pretty even, but there's also joy in going on road trips, stopping for ice cream, and late-night walks with your closest friends, with people who gets you. We've made everything about finding romantic love that we forget ourselves and the people that loves without an exchange. Maybe you should put more focus on being happy, loving yourself, having fun, and piecing yourself together instead of finding the one.
