Younger generations of today becomes the elders of tomorrow.

It’s so amazing and at the same time impressive to see that our elders of today were once youngsters before. There are times when they would look back to the past, nod their head, and wish they were opportune to go back and change the hands of time. Many of them might have felt there are some mistakes they have made in their pasts, some would recollect beautiful moments, and many more.

There is a recent trend on TikTok and it's just like a trending challenge. It's all about old-school music that was brought back to life. The music that was sung over 4 decades ago. Recently an influencer just grabbed it and used it for a skit, and boom it went viral. With God so good the song owner is still alive to witness his song go viral again.

Emotional moments all over the internet to see this over ninety-year-old man listen to the song he sang when he was young. The internet never forgets. I don't know how people got to find the video of the song he sang back then. They brought back his old memories. He never expected such to happen in his lifetime. Not everyone knew about the existence of the song, but even younger generations now know about it.

That was just another practical example of what old age will bring forth. Though no one is assured of old age, yet we just have to be prepared for it. It can come to anyone. Some see it as a gift of life.

I am so fortunate to meet some of the elders in our family. I met with my paternal grandmother and we lived together for years. I knew her since I was a child till I grew up to know who she was. I also got to know some of the elders in my paternal family. My maternal grandfather and grandmother were alive and healthy. I got to know them but was not used to them as my dad’s grandmother who lived with us.

I love myself around elderly ones, and I love listening to them. Their experience is something different, and their advice is always on point. I remembered a moment with my maternal grandmother, she is over 90 years of age now. Still active and agile. I love her old age.

The last time I went to visit her, we had a long discussion about life. It was a time when I just concluded my national youth service. I went to serve in the east and she was so concerned about my safety serving in a far distant part of the country. So when I arrived I had to go visit her.

She called my attention one very morning, after she was dressed, she told me to get her walking stick, and then she asked me to follow her. I don't know where we were going, but I just followed her. I realized we started walking between the local settlements, she was a foot ahead of me as I gently walked behind her.

The amazing part I realized was that she was so happy to have me around. She would greet almost everyone and then introduce me to them. Some of the elders in the settlement would wish me well and then we move on to the next. That was how we toured around till we arrived at our destination.

When we got to where she intended to talk to me. We sat on the balcony of the building, it was her junior brother’s house. Then she told me some facts about life I couldn't forget. She gave me some advice and pleaded that I should make sure I work on it. I appreciated her and pondered about her words for the time being. After a little while, I also started working towards it.

A few weeks ago she came to visit us and she was so pleased to see me take her advice. She prayed and prayed as she also wished me more success in my endeavors. It was a nice time having her around.

She returned today before I got back from work, and I really felt her absence so much. The way I would greet them after which she would shower prayers, the elderly smile on her face when she saw me smile. The memories of her voice as he narrates her experiences with every one of us. I miss them all.

Man, that desperate chicks song really slaps.😂 I’m sure I wasn’t even born when it was even released.

We all need elders in our lives because they have more experience in life than us. I remember the time I used to spend with my grandma, it was really wholesome. May her soul rest in peace.

So it got to Ghana 🇬🇭. 😂. Hope the song is living rent free in your head as we speak. 😂.

May her soul rest in peace. They are rare gems that should be cherished. Someday if we remain alive we would get to become like them too. My dear nhaji on white hairs. ☺️
