We Need Good Roads! 🪧

If there is one thing that makes a city, state, country, or nation more developed and modernized, let's look at the governance in such a place. When there is good governance by the government, and the citizens are also ready to respond to being governed then there will be growth.

But as for a country with bad governance and the government failed to provide its rightful support to the citizens, then I can say it would be more difficult for the citizens of such a nation to perform their duties as expected. And this is one reason why some countries' development has remained stagnant over the years.

The well-developed nation would always have its infrastructures in place as this would create a favourable ecosystem among the people of the country. Good roads will aid transportation, migration and emigration, import and export, quality educational systems with good schools will build a brighter future for the children and parents, good health care will favor the old and the young, and many other infrastructures too.

Here in my state, one major problem we have is the lack of good roads. Though there are some other infrastructures we need like healthcare, hospitals, and more schools, one major problem is not having good roads.

Our city is developing, in the past ten years the city was just like a settlement of farmers and not yet modernized, more like a rural settlement. But with the expansion and extension of people from the urban settlement in Lagos, many people began to migrate into the city gradually and it developed so quickly. It's like a linkage between two major cities. Ibadan and Lagos state.

But one setback we are experiencing is the lack of good roads to link up with these states. Even within the city, we are still lacking good roads. Most times when it rains it's always a mess up and this is because you get to realize that if you are on a bike you might experience splashing of mud on yourself or you find yourself prepared to be sinked into a pool of mud.

As for those with cars, or vehicles, they hardly experience what bikes experience, but their mess up happens when they have their vehicles damaged due to the potholes and gallops on the road. As for pedestrians, it's just another different case entirely because you will at times have to roll up your trousers and deep your feet into the mud before you can trek some areas.

All of these should be looked into by the government. One worst experience is when flooding occurs due to a lack of sewage. The gutter alongside the muddy roads will get filled up by the mud from the road causing gallops and then when it rains again there is no channel for the water to pass through which would in return turn out to flood the society.
