Time Traveling To The Precolonial Era.

I was in a vehicle a few months ago and some of the passengers were debating with the driver and other passengers. It was all about our dear country Nigeria. I think those who lived long to witness incidents in the past and those alive to witness them now have a far difference in almost every aspect of life.

The driver mentions how they get to price a full chicken for a low price and even buy a lot of foodstuffs with a happy family. It is said that when hunger is solved, half of one's problem is solved. That was the kind of lifestyle they had in those days.

He also mentioned how farming was important and one of the vital resources in the country. Many foreigners from different countries want to visit Nigeria to witness the peaceful existence that’s bestowed upon us.

Not until we got colonized by the British. We got enslaved and overpowered, we were ruled by the British, and little did we know that we were getting a worse future for our generation to come. However, there is always a positive and negative in every occurrence.

Nigeria of today should be better than in the past. And yeah it’s obvious that we got even more civilized and technologically inclined than the pastimes but we tend not to realize that we have been mentally and physically enslaved by the colonial masters. Little can we do or invent anything on our own without their permission.

Now Nigeria as an independent nation running as a nation cannot figure out a way to be truly independent but rather more dependent than ever before. Many of our resources are of little or no use to us rather we need foreign aid before we can achieve anything.

Only if I could time travel to the past and have things changed. I think I would do well to make sure we keep to our feet and not fall into the hands of the colonial masters. If there should be anything that brings us down to them then it should on equal terms not be a matter of slavery.

Nigeria is blessed with resources but we are not just gifted with the ability to use those resources for our own use. This is more of a reason why we are still so underdeveloped to date. The act of slavery that has happened to our forefathers in the past is still happening to us in recent times but we never paid attention to it because it’s happening in a modernized way.

Things are getting worse for us in the nation and instead of joining our heads together to proffer everlasting solutions to our problems, we rather have the mindset and thoughts of zooming out of the country for greener pastures even if it to become modern slaves in the western world they prefer it than being a king in their Homeland.
