Said Goodbye 👋 to My Phone
School life remains one of the most horrible moments an individual can experience. Apart from being so stressful, there is always this reluctant vibe that comes along with going to school, especially days when you have an undone assignment, or maybe days when there is no food, or days with extra lessons.
Right from pre-nursery classes till secondary, Fridays have always remained the best of days. Why is Friday so special? All because it happened to be short for classes, and we went home early. Also, the joy of not going to school for the next two days is another joy on its own.
To cut a long story short, everyone has been hyping tertiary institutions as different and interesting ones, the freedom you get, you won't have to wear uniforms, no white socks or sandals, no one is after your textbooks or complete notebook. Yeah, that’s enough for the hype. But only if they had clarified it better.
It depends on the kind of university you’re admitted to. When I got admission to the University of Ilorin, I was so happy, not until I resumed in my department, and I thought the whole school was admitted to my department.
This is going to be survival of the fittest for five years, and I have barely spent 5 days. This time around, the journey of a thousand miles looks like a million miles.
We were over 1500 in our department, not to mention faculty. What the heck! A few were dropped along the line because they didn't meet up with the cutoff, and yet we remained about 1200 till the final year.
That aside, there are some times I wish I could become a student again, but not when I am already rich enough to buy a certificate.
A typical day as a student.
One of my funniest days and saddest days at school was in my 3rd year. I just saved up money to get a new phone. The phone battery is so strong. I intentionally bought the Tecno WX3 Pro. I can't forget that phone.
It wasn’t up to three months of use. When we started our exams, I had to revise in preparation for them. During those times, I had a lot of data subscriptions because I had access to many network cheat codes. So I became the MiFi of our hostel in addition to my strong battery.
That day, my hostel mates were using my hotspot, and it was time I had to go to school to study overnight. I told them I will be going with my phone. They pleaded that I drop the phone with them. I tried to convince them and waved goodbye. Not knowing I was waving goodbye to my phone and not them.
One of the most blessed gifts Unilorin students have is the theft. They can steal your bag and drop a plank on your chest if you lose guard while you are sleeping.
Then I wasn’t a victim of that, but the next day, when I had to prepare for the test, I couldn't go into the hall with my phone. I had to drop it off with a kiosk owner, with whom I drop off my bags. But that very morning, she was not open. I was frustrated and unsettled. Then I decided to drop it off with another kiosk owner till I arrived. That’s my most dangerous mistake.
I was done with the exams and went to ask for my bag and phones, then the woman said, “My friend just came to pick it up.” My head burst immediately! Which friend!!!!!
I quickly called him closer, Mr man. Hear what this woman is saying, oh. She must be joking. But for real, my bag was gone and all the phones in it. After thorough searching, we found the bag on a bush receiving sunset like it was on the beach side.
I lost my precious phone that day, and the repercussions I had was a smiling carry over in an interesting course I thought I would have an A in. I had a pretty looking F in my results due to the fact that I lost communication with everything and the exam was scheduled for the second day I lost my phone.

That's so unfortunate.. 😢 Gotta be careful next time man..
😂😂😂 I couldn't stop laughing at your experience....Hahaha... omo... not only Unilorin but everywhere na theft full there. One just have to be careful...Eii, I can't even bear the sight of such happening to me. Like, my friend came to do what? Perhaps if you had known, you would have given them a note that you aren't sending anyone to collect your phone in case they show. But who knew such would happen?
Thank God it is now a tale to be told as an experience.
