Building Content Creation From The Bottom, When You're Chronically Ill
Since I am not posting on YouTube every day ( I used to post 3xs a week on my Gaming With Jazz YT and 2xs a week on my sister gaming channel)
I will transform my TikTok content into a full video ( I don't think anyone wants to watch a 20-minute video on TikTok). I can combine all of the videos I made.
I made some tiktoks about starting content creation from the bottom full-time due to chronic illness. Most creators will have a day job until streaming, music, etc is able to bring them a strong revenue stream. Due to chronic illness, I would not be able to hold down a job long enough. The amount of spoons I have vary, sometimes I can work 2 days, other times 5, other times 0 hours etc. Employers do not want to hire disabled people. At times we're calling out if flares are too unbearable. Content creation is a nice accessible way to survive. From my own home or a coffee shop. I can start the day when I'm able to. I can take time for flares, and take as many breaks as I need. The hardest part is getting the following to be able to make money. TikTok has a creator fund program, you need 10k followers and a certain amount of total likes, YouTube's is 1k subs 4k watch time hours, or 1 million short views (total views)
That's difficult to get with a small account. I also feel gaining the viewer's trust is the hardest part. Some scammers take advantage of people, proving I am not a scammer and will do what I say I will do. Patreon is not a charity platform, it's for giving viewers exclusive benefits. You're not giving me money on a silver platter and I can't run off with it and do nothing, that breaks Patreon's TOS. The same with Kofi. I want to offer something in return. if you send a one-time tip, you will unlock members-only post for 30 days.
Some people with chronic illnesses/disabilities can work, while others can't. it's far beyond doing an "easy" job. It's being seen as unreliable due to calling out, working slower, needing more breaks, etc, things employers will be unwilling to accommodate.
